Shimmers is a pristine home which is lovingly maintained by ourselves. We have been coming to the island for many years and have lived here for some time with our children attending school in Bridgetown. This first hand local knowledge led us to choose Battaleys Mews as the place to be, based on the beautiful tropical island of Barbados.

Shimmers is a light and airy modern townhouse style villa. A spacious 2354 sq ft home situated in the Battaleys Mews complex along the Platinum Coast, between Holetown and Speightstown.

Battaleys Mews is a gated community of 30 homes with 24/7 security. Guests can enjoy a luxurious swimming pool area with a clubhouse and bar alongside a large secluded garden.

The villa is air-conditioned with an open-plan living area and private spa pool. Whilst the complex has a small gymnasium and hard surface tennis court available for use too.

Shimmers is in an ideal spot on this wonderful Caribbean island. It’s a short walk from the world famous Mullins beach. The Platinum Coast is known for its miles of pristine beaches and clear waters.

There are many food service establishments nearby to suit every pocket from casual street food to elegant high end cuisine.

In true Bajan style, the island boasts breath-taking landscapes, delectable food, and vibrant music. Inland, the beautiful countryside can be explored by horseback, bicycle or on foot.

I very much doubt you will be disappointed if you book Shimmers. The property is just perfect, spotlessly clean, very well appointed, with its own private garden and plunge pool, but also a larger communal pool on site. The house is within a secure gated complex which is obviously well managed by a team of gardeners and trades people. The location is just perfect, easy walking distance to several beaches and fantastic restaurants on the stunning west coast. Travelling any further afield is made easy by the very accommodating taxi drivers or if you want to mix in more, grab a reggae bus, they are good fun. Carl is a great host, very responsive and knowledgable. The property is managed by Marcia who is truly wonderful. As I say you won’t be disappointed!

What an amazing place!! Shimmers was the perfect house in the perfect setting! We had a fabulous stay and would wholly recommend it!! The shared pool was lovely and the tennis court was a bonus! We will definitely consider coming back in the future!

Our trip was fantastic thanks to the hospitality and facilities, the photos do not do this place justice! The villa is a few minutes walk to the beach and bars/restaurants. Thank you for your great hospitality, we will be back!

All aspects were above expectations. Plentiful towels was extra bonus. Spotlessly clean. Airy and as the name says stylish. Marcia delivered above and beyond. Highly recommended.

Had a perfect stay at Shimmers over Christmas and New Year. A large airy beautifully decorated house in a peaceful setting that is located within walking distance of Mullins beach. Highly recommended!

We had the most amazing week at shimmers, its a beautiful house with lots of lovely touches. The plunge pool/hot tub in the back garden is lovely to relax and unwind in the evening! The house is just a two minute walk from mullins beach which is beautiful! Highly recommend heading down here in the afternoons! All the facilities at the house where brilliant, you wont miss much! Finally, the property manager Marcia is also fantastic, she got in touch well before our booking and offered car hire, shopping and other such bits and pieces, she saved us a fortune by organising a local taxi to pick us up from the airport. All in all, I highly recommend you book this venue!

We had a wonderful time. The house is super well located, clean and cosy with lots of natural light and beautiful garden. Carl and Marcia made everything easy and gave great recommendations!

What a wonderful stay we had at Shimmers! The place is stunning and pictures definitely don't do justice to the place! The location is great and very close to the beautiful Mullins beach, restaurants, shopping, etc. We would definitely look at going back there! This place is a 10 out of 10! Shimmer’s is truly a 5 star! It all starts with sweet Marcia. She went above and beyond for our group prior and during our stay. Her response time was so quick and although there never was any issues, she always was checking on us to ensure our holiday was going well. The staff at Shimmer’s made us feel like we were part of their family. The security staff was great and Kathy at the pool was just so kind and thoughtful. Marcia hired a driver to pick us up at the airport. His name is Kerr Weekes. We ended up using Kerr’s services the next two weeks. He was not only our driver but we all feel we’ve made a new friend. The beds were super comfy, the location was excellent. A very quiet area, yet close enough to walk to everything we needed. I very seldom return to a destination as there are so many places in the world to see, however, simply because of the wonderful hospitality we received at Shimmers, I would definitely return. Thanks so much Carl for allowing us into your home. We truly had a wonderful holiday.

Wonderful home. Pictures don’t do it justice. Well appointed, spacious, bright and in a very nice safe and private gated community. The community pool was very close and quite nice. The staff was incredibly friendly, cheerful and helpful. Marcia was an absolute doll, incredibly responsive and was very accommodating.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Shimmers. Marcia was incredibly helpful, from the lead up to our arrival to once we had arrived and she even came by to send us off! The villa was very spacious and immaculately clean with all of the amenities we could ask for. We loved sitting outside in the private backyard, and my daughter enjoyed the plunge pool. Great location for beautiful beaches and good restaurants. All in all a fabulous vacation!

The house is perfectly situated on the Platinum Coast and close to the great beaches. We walked to Mullins in less than five minutes and Speightstown is only fifteen minutes. The house was clean and felt brand new. The Battaleys Mews compound is fabulous, we played tennis and swam during the whole stay. There are plenty of green monkeys to see although they are shy and high tail it (literally) when they spot you. The kitchen is a great size and we could prep and cook in style. Eating out by the plunge pool we felt like we had the Island to ourselves – such is the peace and quiet. There were 5 of us in the party but it sleeps 6 comfortably. We only used the aircon at night but it chilled the rooms down in minutes. That said the house has very thick walls so even when it was 34 degrees outside the room were all bearable. Its nicely furnished with some real quirky features. We’ll be back!

We had an amazing time at Shimmers. The villa is perfect for a large family or group of friends as all bedrooms are large, the two bathrooms stylish and the kitchen and living areas open plan and spacious. Well kitted out with towels and kitchenware etc. Marcia the housekeeper is excellent, very responsive and helpful which was particularly appreciated by us as we unfortunately had no water or intermittent water for a few days due to a leak nearby. She kept us updated and organised plumbers, fresh water supplies etc. Be warned that the water pressure in the showers in the villa is not as efficient as it is in the UK. The villa has a lovely communal pool and is a 5 minute walk from Mullins beach. A wonderful bar and restaurant called Bombas is also 5 mins away - try their lobster curry and Pina Colada - as is a very convenient 24 hour shop for necessary supplies. Overall a great stay in a lovely villa very well placed for the beach and buses for access up and down the West coast. Would highly recommend.

"Shimmers" is one of the best places we have stayed on the island and we have been coming for a good few years. We have stayed in some lovely places and some shabby but this is definitely in the former category. The house feels brand new with lovely linen and towels, a superb kitchen and the whole layout exudes calm and relaxation which is what we needed. The maid came twice a week and in this respect it is akin to staying in a hotel but with complete privacy. Of course its on the golden coast and we did not venture far - no need everything we wished for was very close to hand. We understand that we were amongst the first guests to stay at "Shimmers" and the owners seemed to have thought of everything we needed- and more!! As we write this review we are in the process of arranging our return visit next year and cannot wait to return!!
